Kyenkyen board is cut from the tropical hardwood tree Antiaris africana, locally known as Kyenkyen in Ghana. This wood is known for being light, straight-grained, and easy to work with, making it ideal for a wide range of uses including joinery, wall cladding, ceiling battens, formwork, shelving, and furniture. The 1" × 12" size is especially preferred in the Ghanaian timber market for structural framing and general carpentry. It offers a good balance of strength and lightness and is commonly air-dried for better stability.
