Esa wood, also known as Celtis zenkeri or "Esa pa" in Ghana, is a medium to heavy hardwood used widely in building and carpentry. The 2" × 6" board is one of the most common cuts, preferred for rafters, beams, and structural support. It has a straight to interlocked grain with a pale to yellowish-brown appearance. Though not naturally durable for long-term outdoor use, it performs well with preservative treatment. It is moderately easy to work with and can be nailed or planed effectively. Its high density makes it suitable for applications requiring strength and load-bearing capacity.
