Dulux Steel Primer is a solvent-based (alkyd) primer formulated with zinc phosphate to guard against corrosion on steel/iron substrates. It is designed for use on new or lightly rusted surfaces that have been suitably prepared. It offers a light grey matt to low sheen finish, good levelling and flow, and strong adhesion. After application it creates a sound base for decorative undercoats and topcoats. It dries to touch in ~4 hours at 23 °C and can be recoated after about 18 hours. Exposure to harsh conditions (such as coastal or chemical environments) may require two coats for better protection.
