This Coral Red Oxide Primer is formulated to protect new, bare iron or steel surfaces (internal or external) from rust and corrosion. It is solvent-based, with red-oxide pigment, providing a hi-build matt finish. The product adheres strongly to clean metal, fills minor surface irregularities, and offers a base for subsequent decorative or protective topcoats. It is applied by brush, roller or spray, dries to touch, recoats after a few hours, and fully cures in about 24 hours under good conditions. Coverage is good, and only one coat is usually required before top coats.
